Mental Health First Aid – Training Available Posted on April 3, 2024 Ever been in a situation where you thought someone needed help or was in distress, but you didn’t know how to respond? In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month (May), Riverbend Community Mental Health is proud to offer Mental Health First Aid Training to interested members of our community. Mental Health First Aid is a skills-based training course that teaches people how to understand and respond to someone who is experiencing a mental health or substance abuse challenge. Participants will learn: Risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns. Strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Where to turn for help. The course is eight hours long, requiring a mix of online and in-person sessions. Early registration is encouraged, as the course is limited to 25 participants. REGISTER HERE to secure your place KEY INFORMATION: Dates: Tuesday, May 7 (Session 1, in-person) Tuesday, May 14 (Session 2, in-person) Time: 9:00 a.m. – 12 p.m. (both May 7 and May 14) Location: 29 School Street, Concord NH (Parking is available nearby at the School Street Parking Garage, 17 School Street) Online: Pre-work to be completed prior to the course (tasks take about 30 minutes to complete) After the in-person sessions, there is some online work required. Participants will then take an online final exam to complete their certification.
